ROUND 3 – DEVELOP FINAL ALTERNATIVES "Complete"

The final round of bridge type selection will result in the identification of approximately three final alternatives for each of the two bridge sites. The design team will also produce a final report, summarizing all data and input during the bridge type study, from which the Cabinet will be able to select a final approved alternative for each site.
- Identification of Final Alternatives. Our goal will be to develop three final alternatives that possess the following qualities:
- Each final alternative will meet the Cabinet’s budgetary constraints. At the same time, bridge budgets will be revisited to confirm that construction and material costs are current and realistic.
- Each final alternative will, to the satisfaction of the design team, be feasible and constructible.
- Each final alternative will incorporate global aesthetic considerations consistent with the public’s preferences and stated project considerations.
- Round 3 Meetings: The three final recommendations for each bridge will be presented to the CAC and the general public for comment. It is not intended that this feedback will result in significant changes to the final alternatives; rather, it is an opportunity for the public to provide comment on the final alternatives that could prove helpful to KYTC in choosing the preferred alternative. More importantly, it represents a good faith effort on the part of the design team to engage the public.
- Final Renderings and Visualization Tools. We will create enhanced renderings for each alternative, including new views as necessary. Typically, at this stage, full animations will be developed to demonstrate the aesthetics of each option from a variety of vantage points.
- Final Report. A Bridge Type Study Final Report will be completed that documents and supports the bridge type study. This report will cover input received from the public involvement process. The document will also summarize each round, including results.
